Everyday is a battle as members of the Order fight tirelessly against the forces of Lord Voldemort. Loved ones are lost everyday and anyone could be next. People fear not only for their own lives but the lives of the loved ones and those closest to them. The infamous Dark Mark is suddenly everybody’s worst nightmare, just as the Death Eaters intended. The eerie skull and snake is symbolic of that fear. The mere thought of finding that above one’s home is enough to drive good people to corruption. Out of this terror traitors are born and recruited as spies. It is no longer clear who can be trusted.
Despite the battle, Hogwarts remains open and has recently opened its doors to another generation of pupils. But life inside the castle walls is almost as dangerous as the streets these days, and house rivalries are suddenly more vicious then ever. Ex-pupils meanwhile, from the likes of the marauders and Lily Evans to young Death Eaters such as Bellatrix and Lucius, are still maintaining old friendships and grudges as they build a life for themselves post-Hogwarts. From Diagon to Nocturne Alley, the ministry of Magic to the small streets of Hogsmeade, everywhere is darkened by the shadow of war.
